from a distance, these small dots look like a single colour.

Pointillism reached fame in the 1880 and 1890 after the impressionist movement. Many of the concepts and ideas, however, continued to be used by artists in the future.

Georges-Pierre Seurat was a French post-impressionist painter. He stands out for his innovative use of drawing and for devising the painting technique known as pointillism.

This painting is by far the most famous of the Pointillism paintings. It was George Seurat. Seurat worked on it for around two years. You can see it today at the Art Institute of Chicago.
